Did you know…?

Short sayings Many of the sayings are written as a single verse. The first part of the verse states the topic. The second half of the verse either repeats the topic in a different way or shows what happens if you do not act wisely.

Collected sayings Most of the verses in Proverbs work as they are, just as single verses. You do not need to read the whole chapter for each saying to make sense.

Try it out

Read the wise sayings from Proverbs 16:1–9 again. Or read other proverbs in the verses and chapters near to these in the Bible.

Is there one that you really like? Or is there one that you think would work well? Or, perhaps, is there one that sounds like a good idea?

Choose one wise saying and then draw a cartoon to illustrate it. Show your cartoon to your Bible Coach or another friend. From your picture, can they work out how to be wise?

Talk to God

“Please, God, help me to be wise when I am with my friends.”
