The letter so far…

John had been one of Jesus’ first disciples. He wrote the Gospel of John. Later, as a church leader, he wrote letters to the early Christians. He wanted them to know how important it is to love others. There’s no place for hating other people. Jesus showed his love by giving up his life for us. Sometimes, others will make it difficult for us, but God’s Holy Spirit is powerful and he will help us stay true to Jesus.

Now read 1 John 4:7–21 together.

What happened next…

God is love and if we say we are his people, then God’s love should be seen in the way we live: “Love God and love each other!” (v 21 CEV).
