King Saul

Here’s what happened when Aiden and his mom, Sharon, read this Bible story together.

Aiden is 7 years old. He’s in 2nd grade at school (in America) and likes sports.

Aiden wondered: “Why did Samuel pour oil on Saul’s head? Oil is greasy and messy. Wouldn’t Saul get mad at him?”

Sharon explained: “In the Old Testament, when God wanted to show Israel that a certain person was specially chosen by him to perform a special task (such as being the first king of Israel), his prophet would pour oil on his head. This was called ‘anointing’.”
